Kitchen Remodel Timeline: From Demo Day to Final Inspection
By Jerry Guinn · Lic #1007864 · September 25, 2026

A week-by-week walk through a professional California kitchen remodel — and the three decisions that control the schedule.
A professionally run kitchen remodel takes six to twelve weeks of construction. Here is the week-by-week reality we deliver on — and where other contractors lose months.
Weeks 1-2: Demo, Rough Framing, and Discovery
Demolition takes days, not weeks. This is when hidden water damage, undersized wiring, or out-of-plumb framing surface — a contractor with in-house framing and electrical crews fixes discoveries in days instead of scheduling new subs.
Weeks 3-5: Rough MEP and Inspections
Plumbing, electrical, and HVAC rough-ins, then city inspection. Palo Alto and neighboring cities inspect within days of request — if the work passes the first time. Our rough-ins are built to the checklist, not to luck.
Weeks 6-10: Drywall, Cabinets, Counters, and Finishes
Sheet rock and paint, cabinet set, counter templating (which needs cabinets in place), then tile, fixtures, and trim. The three schedule-killers are all pre-construction decisions: cabinet lead times, counter material, and appliance availability. Lock them before demo and the calendar holds.
